Secu-Tech introduces the first modular system platform for the whole tanker, designed to help prevent delivery mistakes and environmentally harmful spills.

Leobersdorf, Austria, 16 September 2026. A spill during a fuel delivery can affect more than one customer or vehicle. It can contaminate soil and water. Secu-Tech introduces XPULSE, a world premiere designed around preventing errors at the delivery point. The first modular system platform for the whole tanker brings metering, safety functions, operation and communication into a shared delivery workflow.

German accident statistics show the scale of the environmental consequences: Destatis recorded 1,461 accidents involving substances hazardous to water in 2025. Around 5.9 million litres were released, and about 2.4 million litres could not be recovered. These figures cover accidents during the handling and transport of water-hazardous substances in Germany.

The starting point is the delivery itself. Which compartment contains which product? Is discharge permitted? What does a fault mean, and what happens next? XPULSE is being developed to put those answers into a guided workflow. Loading, planning and delivery share one operating logic, through to the delivery record. The aim is to support the driver and prevent mistakes before they become a wrong-product delivery or a spill.

A modular architecture allows the platform to grow with the vehicle. A Core Unit combines computing and operation. XPANSION Units accept plug-in function modules, bringing additional tasks into the platform. Existing meters and sensors are intended to remain usable, with each combination assessed for technical and regulatory compatibility. This gives fleets a route to modernise vehicles as their needs change.

XPULSE starts in fuel logistics and is designed for later expansion into other liquid applications. Secu-Tech has developed systems for the safe handling, monitoring and documentation of liquids and gases in Leobersdorf, Austria, since 2004. Existing Secu-Tech equipment is in use at more than 5,000 fuel stations, 500 tankers and 500 loading arms. XPULSE development is funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG.

World premiere: plug-in functions, one operating interface and an architecture designed for new vehicles and retrofit.

Leobersdorf, Austria/Kassel, Germany, 16 September 2026. A tanker faces new operating requirements throughout its working life. Adding a function often means adding another device, wiring and interfaces. Secu-Tech introduces a different approach with XPULSE: a modular system platform for the whole tanker. Metering, safety functions, operation and communication share an architecture designed to expand function by function.

The XPULSE Core Unit combines computing and operation. An XPANSION Unit accepts up to ten plug-in modules, with further units extending the system. One cable connects the Core Unit to an XPANSION Unit, and another connects the next unit. Power supplies and field-device connections remain part of each vehicle installation.

The module concept covers power, dispense control, metering, digital inputs and outputs, and interfaces. Modules have their own status and diagnostic displays. Legally controlled and non-controlled domains are separated, and the MID area can be sealed. Configurations can be saved and reloaded. Planned integration routes include CAN/CAN-FD, Modbus, RS485, RS232 and an open API.

For vehicle builders and fleet operators, the value is staged expansion. Configurations range from a Core Unit alone to a Core Unit with an XPANSION Unit, then multiple XPANSION Units. Existing meters, sensors and actuators are intended to be incorporated. Each combination is checked for technical and regulatory suitability. Existing Secu-Tech safety systems continue to operate independently.

The shared architecture serves an operating purpose: bringing metering information and delivery context together where the driver acts. A guided workflow connects loading, planning and documented delivery. Operation remains consistent across configuration stages, using five illuminated keys and an anti-glare 10.1-inch display.

Secu-Tech introduces a modular platform designed around the work at the delivery point, from selecting a compartment to completing the delivery record.

Leobersdorf, Austria/Kassel, Germany, 16 September 2026. It is dark, the gloves stay on and another delivery is waiting. At the tanker, every step still has to be right: select the product and compartment, check permissions, watch discharge and complete the delivery record. With XPULSE, Secu-Tech designs the vehicle's systems around that workflow. Its new modular platform brings metering, safety functions, operation and communication together at one operating interface.

At its centre are five illuminated keys beneath an anti-glare 10.1-inch display. The keys are sized with reference to the MIL-STD-1472 human-engineering standard for operation with heavy gloves. Colour links each key to its on-screen function. The display adjusts for day and night. An optional swivel arm allows the unit to face the operator's working position. A second operating station on the opposite side of the vehicle is also envisaged.

The software divides work into loading, planning and delivery, showing the information needed for the current phase. When a fault occurs, the design aims to show its cause, effect and the next safe step. Records connect quantity, compartment, interlock and delivery-note information to the operation.

This also matters for environmental protection. At the delivery point, a mix-up or an unauthorised discharge can have consequences beyond a single order. XPULSE is intended to help prevent those errors within the workflow.

The platform is modular. A Core Unit handles computing and operation, while XPANSION Units accept plug-in functions. The operating logic remains consistent as the system expands. Existing vehicle equipment is intended to remain usable after compatibility checks. The starting point is fuel logistics, with other liquid applications envisaged for later expansion.

Secu-Tech’s world premiere will launch first as a road-tanker solution, with a bunkering implementation to follow.

The product, receiving tank, permission to discharge and record of delivery must agree. Secu-Tech’s new XPULSE platform brings metering, safety functions, operation and communication into a modular system. XPULSE will first launch as a road-tanker solution, with implementation for bunkering to follow.

For marine fuel suppliers, the bunkering implementation will bring this modular approach to the transfer of fuel to vessels. It will follow the initial road-tanker setup. The platform’s shared architecture connects measurement with the delivery process and allows functions to be added through plug-in modules.

The XPULSE Core Unit combines computing with the operator interface. XPANSION Units accept plug-in modules. The platform can be expanded in stages. Existing Secu-Tech safety systems continue to operate independently. Existing meters and sensors are integrated following technical and regulatory checks. Security in the architecture

  • Separate MAIN and MID domains, CAN-FD communication AES-128 encrypted. Secure boot, signed updates, TLS 1.3, role-based access and event logging are planned. The MID area can be sealed, and EX and non-EX areas are divided by partitions. The security approach is aligned with CRA and NIS2.
